SDC Trailers and Bodies are designed and built to provide operators with years of trouble free and reliable service. This manual will provide you with a clear and concise schedule for the required maintenance of your new SDC Tipper Body. By following this schedule the working life of the tipper trailer or body will be long and safe.

The standard tailgate is a single door arrangement hinged from the top and secured (in the closed position) with a full width lockbar located on the bottom rear crossmember of the body. For safety, the operator stands to one side of the trailer when opening the tailgate; the lockbar can be operated from either side of the trailer. Additional security may be provided with screw-down swingbolt.

TO OPEN THE TAILGATE
1. Release swingbolts (if fitted) and retain behind spring clips provided.
2. Move locking ring upwards to clear the operating handle; position ring on notch provided.
3. Standing to the side of the trailer, pull the operating handle downwards as far as possible.
TO LOCK THE TAILGATE
1. Prior to lowering the body completely, check around the tailgate aperture to ensure that nothing is entrapped between seal and door; clean aperture if necessary.
2. Lower body fully, pull operating handle up to the locked position (1) and secure handle with locking ring provided (2) (illustrated above).
3. If fitted, secure tailgate in the closed position with the swingbolts.
