SDC Trailers team up with Action Mental Health to raise awareness of services on World Mental Health Day.


SDC Trailers in Toomebridge have teamed up with their charity partner Action Mental Health to promote mental ill health services available across Northern Ireland. Employees from SDC and sister company MDF Engineering, recently visited Action Mental Health’s ‘New Horizons’ facility at Steeple Road Antrim, where the charity provides a wide range of training and guidance services to support the recovery of adults through emotional wellbeing, stress management, confidence, motivation and assertiveness programmes. Jane Millar, HR Manager at SDC said;

“We are extremely impressed by the facilities that Action Mental Health have to offer at their New Horizon’s facility. As well as NVQ training and employment services, individuals are also given the opportunity to learn new skills such as business administration, health and social care, gardening, cooking, photography and fine arts. During our two-year partnership, we intend to work closely with Action Mental Health and their colleagues at Supported Employment Solutions and MensSana, to assist them were possible and share the message that together, we can make a difference.”

As well as promoting the services available to adults, SDC have contacted local schools to encourage uptake of the charity’s ‘Healthy Me’ and ‘Provoking Thought’ programmes, educating children and adults from 8 up to 25 on the importance of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing.

The trailer manufacturer nominated Action Mental Health as their charity partner in May of this year and since then, employees have raised £10,710.33 to support the cause. The funds will be used help Action Mental Health to continue providing a range of training and personal development programmes, recreational activities and resources for those affected, as well as providing resilience building programmes for children and young people.
