SDC’S ENVIRONMENTAL POLICIES
The SDC Group is committed to developing our business in a sustainable way and has made a number of significant capital investments in renewable technologies, in a bid to minimize our carbon footprint and manage our environmental responsibilities, both now and in the future.

Biomass Boilers
Biomass Boilers were installed as a direct fuel replacement for oil or electricity at office buildings in Toomebridge and Antrim. The sustainable boilers are capable of burning both wood pellet and wood chip, offering a reduction in CO2 emissions from the Group of 230T per annum. The renewable investment in excess of £100k will be in place for at least 20 years, ensuring that the SDC Group has a long term commitment to the renewable generation of heating.

Photovoltaic (PV) solar panels
SDC have installed PV electric systems across two locations to act as a direct electricity replacement up to a 50Kw threshold. The 2 solar installations are on course to generate circa 92,000 Kwh of electricity in the year post installation, which will represent a reduction in Co2 emissions from the Group of 50T per annum. The SDC Group invested £140k in the solar installations representing our ongoing commitment to long term environmental sustainability.
Electrical car charge points
The SDC Group has invested in electric car charge points across 4 sites. Both employees and visitors can avail of the electric charging points, reducing their annual fuel consumption and associated carbon emissions.
