Farrall’s Group strike a deal for 20 new SDC Freespan
Chester based Farrall’s Group, a third-generation logistics and warehousing specialist has purchased 20 new Freespan trailers from SDC, boosting their nationwide delivery service.
The order of ten 4.2m and ten 4.5m curtainsiders was agreed following a product demonstration at SDC’s sales centre in Sutton. Farrall’s Group were impressed by the build quality on SDC’s newly released clear side aperture Freespan trailer, as well as the Easy roll curtain rail technology, a low friction system which ensures reliable performance over the trailer life.
Matthew Farrall, Managing Director of Farrall’s Group said: “We wanted to invest in new trailers so that our drivers have the best equipment available to provide the high level of service that our customers expect. A few months back, one of our main customers stipulated that they require a Freespan trailer for their deliveries, and when we reviewed our options, SDC’s Freespan offered significant time savings. The new trailers reduce the potential for damaged stock and offer improved safety, which allows us to minimise vehicle downtime.”
Matthew added: “This was our first order with SDC and I am very pleased with the service provided, the investment will strengthen Farrall’s Group general haulage operations in the Cheshire, North Wales and the North West region, as well as our full and groupage load services to customers nationwide.”
The new trailers are built to EN 12642 XL standard, providing a quality guarantee and simplifying load restraint requirements for regulatory compliance. A GRP dome to the front and vortex generator at the rear offer advanced aerodynamics, as well as many other high spec features including an easy access sliding coupling box, low maintenance drum brakes, full LED lighting and full height rear doors. The Freespan’s are adorned with Farrall’s Group new group livery, bringing consistency across the modern fleet.

Farrall’s Group have been operating for over 60 years, providing scalable and price efficient pallet volume management to UK and International destinations with a fleet of 55 vehicles. The trailers were manufactured at SDC’s Toomebridge facility in Northern Ireland and finished at their Mansfield production facility in Nottingham.
