SDC Freespan Curtainsiders mark a new chapter in Linkline's growth


Headquartered in Northamptonshire, Linkline Transport has strengthened their UK pallet operations with a significant £15million investment and opening of a new purpose-built warehouse facility in Wellingborough. The state-of-the-art facility includes 137,000sq ft of warehouse and distribution space, providing a third location in the UK and bringing their overall capacity to 240,000sq ft. Two new SDC Freespan Curtainsiders supplied by Trailer Resources Limited (TRL) will service the new depot increasing daily operations across the UK and into Europe.

James Bowes, Commercial Director at Linkline said: “This investment is the first phase of a strategic plan to expand our UK distribution channels. Our new warehouse in Wellingboroughis conveniently located less one mile from our current facility and together with our new Curtainsiders, it will enable us to increase capacity and logistics services to meet the demand from key customers.”

The two trailers photographed are built as a ‘special’ in line with the celebration of the new site and specified by trailer rental specialist TRL according to Linkline’s requirements. The Freespan trailers from SDC provide a clear side aperture for ease of loading and floor space for 26 pallets, with EN 12642-XL rating, this model has been independently assessed to conform with TUV Nord’s reinforced body standard, benefitting load containment and compliance.

Another key feature of the Freespan is its 5-star Easy-roll technology, unique to SDC trailers the curtain-rail is proven to deliver unbeatable performance on everyday logistics operations thanks to its innovative, low maintenance design and ease of use. The colour’s on Linkline’s famous green livery have been flipped on the Freespan Curtains to promote the new premises, and they are the only two trailers in the fleet with this livery, celebrating a new chapter in the company’s growth.

James has set out plans to open a further two Linkline depots in Manchester and London Gateway in the next two years, continuing the company’s dedication to delivering the highest quality transport solutions to customers. He praised their partnership with Hertfordshire based trailer rental provider TRL, who supply and manage the operator’s fleet on a rental and fleet maintenance contract.
