DX Group invests in 240 New SDC Boxvan trailers to strengthen UK-wide delivery network
DX, a leading provider of delivery solutions, including parcel freight, secure courier, 2-person, logistics and same-day services, has taken delivery of 240 new tandem axle Boxvan trailers from trusted partner SDC Trailers, reinforcing its commitment to fast, reliable and eco-friendly service across its parcel and freight operations.
The trailer investment supports continued expansion and the next phase of growth, following the appointment of new CEO, Ian Truesdale on 1st July. 2025. DX introduced a SameDay solution to its extensive service portfolio, which provides a 24/7 UK-wide logistics solution offering on-demand, scheduled, contracted, and multi-drop deliveries. Managed from a central control hub in Wednesfield and drawing on a fleet of over 2,000 vehicles, DX SameDay is designed to meet urgent, time-critical, and high-value freight needs with precision and speed.
Manufactured at SDC’s Toomebridge and Mansfield facilities, the 4.2m GRP Boxvan trailers feature bolt-on-body construction with 20mm GRP panels, designed to meet DX’s safety standards and ensure long-term durability. The trailer body incorporates galvanised corners, an internal kickstrip, and a load restraint system. A translucent roof improves loading visibility, while roller shutter doors support secure and efficient transport. Other key features include BPW axles, a safe-park braking system, interior LED lighting, a heavy-duty step with platform, steel-reinforced flooring, hubometer and buffers.
Ian Truesdale, CEO of DX Group, commented:
“Our investment in 240 new Boxvan trailers from SDC reflects the scale of growth across our operations. These high-spec trailers are a valuable addition to our heavy-goods fleet, giving us the capacity and flexibility to respond quickly to customer demand. As we expand our network and services, the new trailers will play a pivotal role in maintaining our promise of delivery excellence.”
DX operates a network of 110 depots across the UK and Ireland, enabling reliable day-to-day distribution for a wide range of sectors. Its delivery operations span everything from standard letters to two-person and palletised consignments, with a focus on secure handling, proof of delivery, and responsive customer support across both commercial and residential addresses.
Paul Bratton, President of SDC Trailers, added:
“We’re delighted to continue our long-standing partnership with DX through the supply of 240 high-spec Boxvan trailers. This order highlights our shared commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality logistics solutions, and we’re proud to support DX as they expand their fleet and enhance service capabilities.”
The major SDC trailer order was placed by rental and leasing specialist TIP Trailer Services and delivered to DX in August. Delivered in phases to align with DX’s growing freight volumes, the new trailers are a strategic addition to the company’s articulated fleet, enhancing resilience, flexibility and capacity across its national operations.
SDC Trailers operates four UK-based production facilities and is currently undertaking an £8.6 million investment to expand and modernise its manufacturing capabilities. The investment coincides with two recent industry innovation awards. In February, SDC completed a 200-unit order of Tri-Maxi Curtainsiders for Northern Ireland–based Mulgrew Haulage.
